John E. Ramsey

President

John Ramsey has captained the InVesta team’s growth over the past 25 years from an initial Fulton County lien purchase of $2M in 1998 to more than $500M in metro Atlanta and surrounding counties.  Mr. Ramsey oversees all of the company’s operations, and has spearheaded the company’s expansion into Connecticut, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Missouri and West Virginia. He remains focused on optimizing the firm’s allocation of capital and human resources to ensure that InVesta maintains a standard of excellence in every market it serves. 

 

In September 1995, Mr. Ramsey served as Executive Vice President of Affiliate Branches and General Counsel for Capital Asset Research Corporation. His areas of responsibility included managing affiliate and field operations, business development, investor relations and coordinating the firm’s legal work. 

 

From 1982 to 1992 Mr. Ramsey practiced law with Kutak, Rock & Campbell in Atlanta GA and subsequently from 1992-1995 with Long, Aldridge & Norman also in Atlanta, primarily in the area of municipal finance.  As a municipal bond attorney Mr. Ramsey spent over 10 years representing both issuers and underwriters of municipal debt. His experience includes the financial structuring for capital expansions and equipment needs and restructuring of existing indebtedness for both governmental units and 501 (c)(3) organizations.  In his present role at InVesta, he remains actively involved in legal matters pertaining to the company’s specialized business activities.

R. Richard Robinson Jr.

Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer

Richard Robinson, one of the founding members, functions as the company’s Chief Operating Officer. He heads all lien and real estate acquisition efforts in the state of Georgia and oversees operations in all other states.  Having participated in every segment of the acquisition process over the past 28 years, Mr. Robinson is uniquely qualified to supervise acquisition efforts which preserve the requisite value of each portfolio while ensuring excellent returns.  He also plays an integral role in establishing and furthering relationships with financial partners.  His in-depth knowledge of multi-state tax receivable portfolios and multi state real estate portfolios, coupled with his management of day-to-day operations, provide Mr. Robinson with the insight necessary to augment productivity and exploit opportunities when they arise.
 
Prior to 1998, Mr. Robinson worked for Capital Asset Research Corporation as an Internal Auditor (1994-1996), and then as the Regional Vice President/Director of Operations for that firm’s Georgia Portfolio (1996-1998).  While at Capital, he helped develop and maintain purchase criteria for portfolio acquisitions.  He also refined due diligence procedures and implemented best practices at a number of local offices.
 
Mr. Robinson has been a key participant in acquisitions of over one billion dollars during this period.  Over the course of his career, he has obtained an extensive knowledge of the parameters for acquisition and management of real estate in Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey and West Virginia.

Scott Easley

Chief Information Officer

Mr. Easley is one of the original management team leaders and has served as the Chief Information Officer since 1998. He is responsible for the design and implementation of the proprietary computer management systems dedicated solely to acquisitions, servicing and dispositions of Investa’s tax lien and tax deed portfolios. He plays a key role in the company’s acquisition efforts, data extractions and data analysis for potential purchases to core software modifications which serve to expand the company’s horizons. Mr. Easley is also responsible for maintaining the various databases containing inventory, diligence, and servicing and real estate owned (REO) information. In addition, he is intimately involved with the foreclosure process in Georgia, and has cultivated important relationships with the various governmental agencies that conduct tax receivable foreclosures on Investa’s behalf. Mr. Easley programs daily and is fluent in many software languages including VB, C, C++, Java, Pascal, .Net, SQL, WPS and asp.net. Currently Mr. Easley has built and maintains the majority of the software that enables all aspects of Investa’s business in Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey and West Virginia.
 
As a former consultant to large buyers of municipal receivables, he has personally designed and implemented the software used to manage delinquent accounts and their collections in Connecticut, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.

Rufus Chambers

Executive Vice President, Capital Markets

Mr. Chambers is responsible for debt and equity capital raising, structuring, strategic relationships and other activities for Investa. He also oversees the back-office operations including accounting, servicing and technology.  His role at InVesta is the culmination of various experiences and capacities in real estate over the past 38 years.  Mr. Chambers began his career in commercial real estate with Equitable Real Estate where he spent time in their Atlanta, Dallas and Tokyo offices.  There he worked on business development, sales, mortgage origination as well as portfolio management for a corporate pension fund.  He then became President of Chastain Capital Corporation, a publicly traded, hybrid real estate investment trust that raised over $800 million of debt and equity for investment in commercial mortgage and real estate investments. He has worked with a variety of real estate technology companies including Fifth Wave Systems, WebTone Technologies, BrightPath Wireless and Virtual Premise. Chambers has also been involved in residential real estate including development in North Georgia on Lake Burton and as head of Carter’s single family residential portfolio, where he oversaw all aspects of the program including acquisitions, renovations, leasing, dispositions and development of its affordable housing strategies.
 
Mr. Chambers has held various posts with professional organizations including the International Council of Shopping Centers, the National Town Builders Association, the Mortgage Bankers Association and as a founding member and three-term president of the Real Estate Group of Atlanta. He is the former Chairman, Treasurer and Executive Board Member of Safehouse Outreach, an urban ministry based in Atlanta, Georgia.

Benjamin Martin

Vice President Analytics & Investments

Mr. Martin joined the InVesta team in 2004 as a financial analyst and presently serves as the Vice President of Analytics & Investments. He also serves as one of the principal managers of the company’s real estate subsidiary, which endeavors to optimize returns from parcels that are transferred from InVesta’s receivable portfolio to REO.  Benjamin is actively involved in developing bidding and pricing strategies in both new and existing markets.  He plays a key role in evaluating potential bulk receivable acquisitions and in establishing discount parameters when applicable.
 
Prior to joining Investa, Mr. Martin completed an externship with AMVESCAP Retirement, Inc.  At AMVESCAP he helped develop advanced competitor profiles to ensure that the company was utilizing industry best practices and to enhance the firm’s competitive position.  Mr. Martin was a National Merit Scholarship Finalist and graduate of the International Baccalaureate Program, and concentrated on corporate finance and macroeconomics while at Harvard.
